Hog Roast Lanark Gears Up For A Wedding At Folkerton Mill!

Lanark might be a small town with less than 10,000 people, but it’s got heart in spades, and even more history behind it, which makes it a genuinely great place to plan a wedding. There’s no shortage of striking venues around here either, including the much-loved Folkerton Mill, an 18th-century grade B-listed water-powered grain mill lovingly turned into a truly unique wedding venue by founders Scott and Penny. Since they took it on back in 2017, the mill’s picked up some serious awards and even landed features in Vogue, Your Scottish Wedding and The Knot Scotland.

Honestly, once you’ve seen the place in person, it’s hard for anywhere else to compete, and Hog Roast Lanark would know, having catered here in the past. And we’re thrilled to say we’ve got another booking lined up at this stunning venue very soon.

The couple tying the knot in the coming weeks have been planning this day for quite a while now, and they’re understandably buzzing for it all to finally come together. Truthfully, so are we – especially since this particular event comes with a bit more of a challenge than usual.

Yes, you read that correctly. While plenty of caterers tend to shy away from tricky requirements, Hog Roast Lanark goes the other way entirely, because we genuinely believe everyone deserves a proper meal at a wedding, no exceptions. So when this couple came to us needing inclusive catering for 80 guests, we jumped at the chance to build something that worked for absolutely everyone, and we’re confident it’s going to be a real hit.

Hog Roast LanarkshireFirst up, we logged every allergen involved, which covered everything from lactose intolerances, fish and shellfish allergies and severe nut allergies to vegetarian and vegan requirements. From there, we landed on our Southern Slow Roast Menu together, featuring Texan beef brisket, Cajun-spiced chicken and pulled minted lamb as the mains, with vegan-friendly pulled jackfruit alongside. Seasonal veg, mac and cheese and roasted baby new potatoes will fill things out, plus a special addition of Costa Rican-style rice and beans.

With that much variety, plus sauces, rolls, wraps and seasonings to finish it off, we’re confident this spread’s going to go down a treat with everyone there and we’re excited to see the payoff. If you’re excited to know how it turns out for yourself, be sure to keep an eye on Hog Roast Lanark’s socials over the next wee while for a sneak peek.
