Retirement parties are often a bittersweet affair. On the one hand, you’re excited to live out your twilight years on your own terms after decades of hard graft, but on the other? Whatever your feelings are, though, we’d argue that it’s fundamentally important to start the next chapter of your life off on the right footing, and what could be better than enjoying a delicious hog roast with all your favourite people? If you guessed nothing, then you’d be right!

Over the years, Hog Roast Kirkmuirhill has catered for more than our fair share of retirement parties, and we’re proud to say that each one has benefited massively from our presence. Whether formal or informal, simple or intricate, our team has always been able to execute the visions our clients have with precision and elegance, leaving them to enjoy their celebrations whilst we take care of the important stuff.

On that note, we were recently hired to cater for Michael’s retirement do. After spending several years at the same company, it was time for him to embrace his future as a retiree and hoping to give him the proper send-off he deserved, Michael’s colleagues had clubbed together to arrange a golf-themed party for the putting enthusiast!

Hog Roast Kirkmuirhill Hog Roast Kirkmuirhill’s catering manager, John, was a big help when it came to choosing the right menu for the event, which everyone agreed was the Southern Slow Roast spread. The menu traditionally combines a trio of mouth-watering meat dishes with four delicious sides, and a veggie/vegan option, and, on this occasion, the dishes chosen included our BBQ pork butt, minted lamb and Louisiana sticky pork ribs with mac and cheese, loaded fries, coleslaw, and Greek salad with a BBQ pulled jackfruit alternative for the non-meat-eaters.

Using faux grass to decorate the tables, the remainder of which they had cut into triangles and threaded with string to create bunting, the staff went all out on the presentation for the event, and they had even commissioned a cake in keeping with the theme. Michael was overjoyed when the big surprise was finally revealed, and as the man of the hour, he was the first of the guests to receive a plateful of Hog Roast Kirkmuirhill’s mouth-watering food!
