Hog Roast Renfrew’s latest clients wanted to put together a rather special surprise party for their Mother, in order to celebrate her 70th birthday. The clients and their family wanted a small party that had the best catering.
The clients wanted a slightly more formal menu but to retain the informality of a buffet. As such, the clients tweaked a Hog Roast Renfrew menu to suit their needs. The menu they selected usually had experienced wait staff serving the canapés and puddings, but the clients opted to do this for themselves, while the main course remained a buffet. This meant that as well as covering the cost of the food, the catering package paid for by the clients also included paying for the Chef, catering equipment, disposable crockery and cutlery and for the Chef to take the rubbish away from site at the end of the event.
With a guest list of 15 people and a serving time of 5pm the Chef needed to be on site in order to prepare the food from midday. The Chef set up the catering gazebo and equipment in the garden at the home venue of the event, while the birthday girl was being taken out so the party could be set up.
The canapés were ready for 5pm and the clients had them ready to be served as soon as the birthday girl arrived. Once she had discovered the surprise party the guests could tuck into the canapés. These delicious treats included: mini pizza, mini quiches, mini burgers, tiger prawns and feta skewers.
The main course was served as a buffet; the Chef was at the serving table to help the guests get what they wanted. They could have some delicious Hog Roast with crispy crackling, stuffing and apple sauce. There was also crunchy coleslaw, green leaf salad, couscous and lovely hot jacket potatoes. Finally, there was also a large basket of soft gluten free bread rolls for everyone to enjoy.
Once again the clients opted to serve the pudding selections to the guests. This time the guests could choose between rich chocolate torte and a zesty individual lemon tart. Both of which could be served with fresh cream if desired.
The birthday girl had had a wonderful party surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was amazed at how much had been done to make the party a surprise.
