When Hog Roast Glasgow caters your party or event, you can be sure of delicious food served by professionals who love what they do – and even at a price that you may well be surprised by. A hog roast is more affordable than you might think and for a large event like what we recently catered at Cartha Queen’s Park Rugby Football Club, it can be especially so, as this kind of food goes a long way when you’re feeding lots of guests.
Our team at Hog Roast Glasgow were asked to cater 250 guests with our scrumptious pigs in buns at Cartha Queen’s Park RFC, which is located in Glasgow. For the lunchtime service, we would be preparing the meat on-site early in the morning onwards, as it takes a few hours to cook the perfect hog roast from scratch, so we set off bright and early on this lovely spring day and arrived at the grounds to set up the equipment. Once the gazebo was up and the serving tables were out, it was time to prep the locally-sourced hogs that we’d brought along with us, by scoring them all over, covering them in water and then rubbing in plenty of salt, which is how we get the lovely crackling. Our hog roast machines do all the hard work for us, so once the hogs were prepared, on the machines went and we just had to watch over them for the next few hours as the beasts sizzled away.
Nearer to the time of service, we got on with slicing the fresh, floury bread rolls and dishing up the tangy apple sauce and tasty sage and onion stuffing – both of which are fresh and homemade. Wherever possible, we ensure that our food is homemade or at least that we know that they’re made from high quality, fresh ingredients, as you can always taste the difference.
Around 1pm, our Hog Roast Glasgow chef was busy carving off the crackling and slicing off lots of juicy pieces of pork so that the team could make the pigs in buns for dozens of hungry guests and by the end of the service, there were plenty of empty plates and happy faces.
