The 18th of May was a big day for Rangers fans. As the team headed to Seville to play off against Frankfurt in the hopes of bringing home the Europa League trophy, over 100,000 fans joined them on their travels. For those who stayed home, house parties and large group gatherings were extremely common, which also made it a busy day for Hog Roast Uddingston’s catering staff.
As a massive Gers fan, Richard was gutted that he couldn’t make the trip to Spain for the game, so instead, he decided to do the next best thing: he organised a party! But after inviting all of his friends and family round to watch the game, he quickly realised that he was going to need some good grub to keep them going, which is when he got in touch with Hog Roast Uddingston.
Steve, our catering manager, was able to help him narrow down his choices and ultimately choose the best menu for the occasion based on the number of guests and their dietary requirements, the event style and the client’s budget. This led Richard to choose our Classic Hog Roast Menu with the inclusion of our chef’s own gourmet sausages and fabulously juicy beef burgers.
On the day of the Rangers v Frankfurt game, Hog Roast Uddingston arrived at the client’s home, where they wasted no time in setting up the cooking equipment in the back garden. After several hours of roasting the meat low and slow over real flames, the pig had turned a stunning golden-brown colour and had filled the space with mouth-watering aromas. Steve then expertly carved the pig, serving the salted crackling in a wooden bowl while the juicy meat was kept warm in a chafing dish next to a batch of sage and onion stuffing.
Although the torrential rain prevented the group from enjoying the tasty food in the garden, they were happy to come outdoors to fill up their plates before heading back inside to enjoy Hog Roast Uddingston’s generously packed rolls in front of Richard’s 85” TV screen.
The game was a rollercoaster of emotions for the group, who were almost certain of Ranger’s success up until the final moments when Frankfurt scored themselves the winning penalty, resulting in their triumph! It certainly wasn’t the result that Richard and his guests had been hoping for, but they were happy to enjoy an evening together with some great food supplied by Hog Roast Uddingston.
