There’s something so intensely magical about winter weddings. From the crisp air and ice-white skies, which help to create a dramatic atmosphere, to the underlying feelings of love and togetherness we all feel in the lead-up to Christmastime, getting married at this time of year is a dream shared by thousands of brides and grooms across the country. In fact, data has shown a stark increase in the number of winter weddings since 2013!
For Hog Roast Coupar Angus, this rise in popularity has undoubtedly kept us very busy, and this year we have been snowed under with winter wedding bookings, which we are delighted about!
Carly and Matthew were the most recent couple to have us attend their winter wedding, which proved to be a wholly unforgettable experience for everyone who attended, including Hog Roast Coupar Angus.
The happy couple had chosen to model their wedding theme around their love of Harry Potter, more specifically, the iconic Yule Ball. This saw their function hall adorned with ‘floating’ candles, frost-tipped Christmas trees and sparkling crystal props. Each of the tables was named after a magical creature from the series and decorated with a white tablecloth with a waterfall bouquet in the centre. Potion bottle wedding favours were at each place setting, for the guests to take home with them.
As for Hog Roast Coupar Angus, our team spent all afternoon preparing our Formal Wedding Catering menu. This mouth-watering spread kick-started with a choice of five canapé options, including roasted halloumi and tomato crostini, roasted duck, smoked Scottish salmon, beer-battered mini fish and chips and an Indian selection. These tasty bite-size treats were offered to guests upon their arrival, along with a glass of champagne.
Carly and Matthew had chosen our sumptuous roasted breast of Gressingham duck as the starter, which instantly won the guests over with its tender and succulent texture and beautiful flavours. Next up was the main course where guests were able to choose from our free-range turkey, spit-roasted pork or grilled vegetable kebab options, which meant everyone’s appetites were catered to.
Our fresh fruit salad and cheesecake puds brought this incredible feast to a conclusion, and before leaving the group to enjoy the rest of the celebrations, Hog Roast Coupar Angus sliced and dressed the wedding cake, which they served as a buffet.
