At Hog Roast Ballingry we obviously love any excuse to have a big ol’ roast. It is why this end of the year is one of our favourites as the season calls for every excuse to enjoy the very best roasts around. In the UK that is typically just limited to the Christmas dinner, but over in the States they also have Thanksgiving on the last Thursday of November where even more roast goodness gets to be enjoyed. That means two important seasonal roasts to close out the year – what a dream! This year our team were fortunate enough to cater for a number of Thanksgiving events across the UK.
The traditional Thanksgiving dinner looks a little like our usual Christmas dinner, though it has a few notable additions that make this American holiday a real delight to cook up for guests. From our festive menu you’ll no doubt already know all about the Hog Roast Ballingry slow roasted turkey and our homemade stuffing that goes along perfectly with the golden roasted bird. As it is with Christmas, this is the star of the show at Thanksgiving, but it is in the many sides that visiting guests typically bring where the dinner really shines. To imitate the tastes of back home for our American guests we did our best to replicate the glut of sides that you’ll find on a Thanksgiving table. That meant our chefs had their work cut out freshly producing mashed potatoes, the all-American classic of mac and cheese, green bean casserole, roasted vegetables, glazed sprouts, roasted potatoes and roasted sweet potatoes, and our own homemade cranberry sauce.
Thanksgiving is a holiday to celebrate the end of the autumn harvest, so for dessert you’ll often find autumnal foods like pecan and/or pumpkin pie. For our version our team went with a pumpkin pie served with fresh cream to top the brilliant dinner off.
From all at Hog Roast Ballingry, we would just like to thank those who had us out for their Thanksgiving dinner, and we hope we were able to give you that taste of home that you were after!
