Vikings, Vows & Very Full Bellies – Wedding Season with Hog Roast Dumfries!

Now that wedding season is in full swing, it probably won’t shock you to hear that things at Hog Roast Dumfries have been roasting lately – pun very much intended. Our diaries are jam-packed, our tongs are working overtime, and we’re loving every smoky, sizzling second of it!

We always say wedding season is our favourite time of year – and not just because we get to serve our epic feasts in beautiful places (although, that’s a big perk). It’s the smiles, the laughter, the full plates and fuller hearts. There’s nothing better than helping happy couples celebrate with food that gets guests talking for all the right reasons.

Speaking of unforgettable weddings, we’ve just returned from Hanna and Eric’s utterly unique celebration… and trust us, this one deserves a drum roll (or maybe a war horn blast). They threw a Viking-themed woodland wedding. And yes, it was just as incredible as it sounds. We’re talking fur cloaks, drinking horns, and a roaring celebration in a barn straight out of Norse mythology, complete with long wooden tables, candlelight, and natural wreaths galore. It was epic.

And the food? Oh, they didn’t hold back. Hanna and Eric asked us to bring the full Hog Roast Dumfries experience – and we delivered. Guests were welcomed with drinks and an eye-popping platter of canapés, featuring pan-seared fillet of beef, handmade gourmet sausages, roasted duck, smoked Scottish salmon, and mini quiches that disappeared faster than you could say “Skål!”

Then came the grand main event: our traditional hog roast with crunchy crackling, juicy stuffing, and tangy applesauce. Alongside it? Spit-roasted lamb with Yorkshire puds and mint sauce, plus BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls with crunchy plant-based slaw for our vegan warriors.

Add a colourful spread of sides, comprising heritage tomato with buffalo mozzarella salad, classic Caesar salad, seasonal leaves, coleslaw, and buttery new potatoes, and you’ve got a feast worthy of Odin himself.

To top it all off? Decadent sticky toffee pudding and rich chocolate torte. Delicious!

Hanna and Eric were thrilled, their guests were stuffed and smiling, and we left with glowing reviews and full hearts. Another legendary wedding in the books for Hog Roast Dumfries – the top dog of Lanarkshire catering!
