At Hog Roast Jersay we attended a fantastic charity boxing match at the weekend and what a busy night it was. With 30 boxers in total both males and females there was a large room filled with 300 guests who were all awaiting a succulent hog roast Jersay while watching the boxing. Colin who was organising the boxing evening, knew straight away that a hog roast Jersay would be the best option for the catering, a traditional meal that would go down well with everyone.
All of the guests had bought tickets which included their meal, all of the profits made from the tickets went to charity and all of the fighters were volunteering. We knew straight away that we had to put on a fantastic meal so suggested to Colin that we served the guests at their tables rather than having a buffet which would make the evening much more formal.
We had planned an 8pm serve time which was estimated to be roughly half way through the evening, there was myself who would be carving the hog while my 2 waitresses served to the tables. We laid out a selection of fresh bread rolls and wraps on each table so those who did want a pig roll had the option, however we were serving a plated meal with new potatoes, vegetables, apple sauce and stuffing. The traditional meal went down a treat with all of the guests. With only a few fights left I was serving up the delicious chocolate torte as my waitresses headed out to the tables. (When we collected the dessert plates there was not a single bit left, it was a popular choice).
With 300 guests it was a fantastically busy evening and we still had enough left to make a buffet for the 30 volunteer boxers who took part that evening. We even managed to watch the last 2 fights before we headed off home! There was a great atmosphere to the evening, and not forgetting that it was all for charity they raised a huge amount of money, and we loved being part of the evening.
