Outdoor festivals are one thing, but outdoor beer festivals? Well, now they’re a whole different kind of experience altogether, and lucky for our team here at Hog Roast Wishaw, we were very recently hired to serve our Classic Hog Roast Menu at one of these boozy events!
Our client, Gareth, had opened his proverbial doors to the community, inviting lovers of real ale to come along and try out some new and unique flavours of both traditional and craft beer. And, as you probably already guessed, our job at this event, as the nation’s favourite mobile hog roasting supplier, was to keep everyone well-fed and happy.
Thankfully, our catering manager, John’s steadfast confidence in the abilities of the Hog Roast Wishaw team, made Gareth even more glad that he had chosen us for this all-important day, and with nothing to worry about from our end, the client was able to focus all of his attention on selling the remaining tickets for the event and ensuring the beer sellers were all still on board.
With vendors set to arrive from all over and several hundred guests to cater to throughout the day, the timing was everything when it came to this festival, so Hog Roast Wishaw made sure to show up on-site with plenty of time to spare. Using the slow roasting machines, John and the team then cooked the pigs, which had been scored evenly, rubbed with salt and doused in water to help create the crispy layer of crackling that our guests are always enthused by; and as the pork slowly cooked its way to perfection, the juices dripped into the tray of homemade sage and onion stuffing below, enriching the flavours of accompaniment.
The mouth-watering smell of the perfectly-cooked meat filled the entire outdoor space, and so, as the guests arrived, they immediately followed their noses to our stall, where the Hog Roast Wishaw team happily served up wholemeal and gluten-free rolls packed full of pulled pork, stuffing, crackling and a healthy drizzle of applesauce to finish, the flavours of which complemented the refreshing taste of the boozy brews perfectly.
